Why? Because banks are always on the lookout for fraudulent charges and if they see charges coming through your account from outside the US, and you have not informed them of your travels, there is a chance they will start denying charges on your debit card. A quick call before you depart, to inform them of your trip, is a smart idea! You might also want to call any credit card company you plan on using while traveling and advise them of the locations you will visit as well.




{In case you are wondering, we do still recommend using a debit or credit card for your travels - rather than a cash. It is not convenient to carry large amounts of cash while traveling and ATMs in the Caribbean & Mexico will dispense local currency.}
